I have no idea why I put the "About Me" section on my site. I get in here to type some text and draw a huge blank. Here we go...

I got into Graphic Design by total accident. I was attending East Tennessee State University in 1993 when I landed a part time job doing technical support for the online service formally known as Prodigy. Well, there is no "formally" I guess, because AOL completely obliterated them from the face of the Earth. But during my three year run at Prodigy I started messing with HTML. I was a graphic design major at the time (with an emphasis on Illustration) and I decided to see just what you could do with graphics and Netscape. This was back in the day folks. Websites looked more like huge spreadsheets with little to no graphics. I realized I needed to understand Photoshop a lot better, so I bought some books and the rest.....well, Adobe owned me.

That was almost 15 years ago. Photoshop 3. That's old school peeps. And I've been making web sites professionally for 10 years. I was in the middle of the .com bubble burst and I remember when Netscape laughed at Internet Explorer. And through it all, I never opened a single site to edit with Frontpage. I'm actually quite proud of that one. I've hired designers and fired a few as well. I've worked on every type of site you can imagine. From video greeting cards (that didn't go over so well) to national clothing chains. If it shows up in a browser, I've probably worked on something similar. I've been the ONLY designer, and I've led teams of them. And I still love making web sites.

Several years down the road I started working with some guys that used Discreet's 3DS MAX. I started messing with 3D and never recovered from that either. After Pixologic released ZBrush 2, I was completely fascinated with digital sculpture. That's where I'm at today....playing around with 3D meshes and painting them. And of course I still illustrate and do web design. I never stopped drawing. I just do it on a Wacom tablet now.

I'm currently in Nashville Tennessee after a year spent at DreamTeam Arts as their Art Director. I'm currently doing contract work but actively seeking a full time position at a stable and creative environment that I would enjoy advancing my career at. If you think you work at that place and like my stuff, you should contact me for a chat.

That lovely female on the right is Robin, who I've been dating for well over a year now and loving every minute of it. If you're an old friend or classmate who has stumbled onto this site, be sure to visit my Facebook page and say hi!

My "Rig": Pentium Quad Core with a GeForce 512 video card and 4 gigs of ram.

My Laptop: Pentium Duel Core with a GeForce 512 video card and 2 gigs of ram.

Hometown: Kingsport, Tennessee

Favorite Band: If you don't like the Foo Fighters, you need to check your ears. Sucka.

Favorite Flick: Fight Club. The stuff you own ends up owning you. Fo real.

Current Gaming Habits: Soul Calibur 4. And I wonder if I'll ever stop playing World of Warcraft? Probably not.

Best Advice to a new Web Designer: Trust your instincts. Try to protect clients from themselves if possible. ENJOY the web. Play on it and observe trends. Make an effort to figure out how other people are doing something cool with their designs. Oh...and draw. You're still an artist even if you ARE a web designer. Never stop drawing. Ever.
